Stone Town Walking Tour
Tour details
Overview
Stone Town is the historic heart of Zanzibar and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its lanes are too narrow for cars, so the best way to see it is on foot, with a guide who can explain how Arab, African, Indian and European influences shaped the town you are walking through.
Your guide takes you to the site of the old slave market, through the busy stalls of Darajani Market and past landmarks such as the House of Wonders, the Old Fort and the Sultan's Palace. It is a half-day walk, so you still have the rest of the day free for the beach or an evening at Forodhani Gardens.
